Hi my name is Michelle and my baby Sasha was just diagnosed with bone cancer on 8-8-10.Sasha just turned 6yrs old and ever since she was 8 weeks old she has had every possible surgery known to man.Starting with eye surgery(grass seed in eye) then developed a double chin which was a blocked salivary gland which was a MAJOR surgery that we drove 9 hours away to have, then the salivary gland that was'nt removed got blocked too.She was taking prozac for her constant licking and took pills for incontinece she has been put through it ALL.Sasha is a red doberman and the most sweetest and loving dog I have ever known. She loves all people and animals and would'nt hurt a fly (I don't think she knows shes a doberman)! She is known for her kisses everywhere we go she is "the kissy dog".By the time we found the cancer it has already eaten her bones in both back legs to where she has no kneecaps, the news devastated me to know she was in this kinda pain! With her not being an active dog other than when we walk and ride around town I refused to amputate she weighs 105lbs and would rather lay on sofa watching t.v than play with my other dog on 3acres of land. She is very diva too! I had to say enough is enough no more surgeries no more nasty meds for incontinece and anxiety and sores,no bone biopsy no painful anything! In her short life here she has been through sooooo much, so I said I will give her NSAIDS and pain meds til she is not able to get up and go outside to potty or I see that she is suffering.Easier said than done! I hope I can keep my word that is why I joined the group, to know that I am doing the right thing. This is hard writing this now Sasha is not my dog she is my child! I know that people in this group view there pets the same way! So as of today Sasha is doing great she is a lil slower moving but she runs outside with me and still giving kisses and taking the best tasting meds money can buy and being spoiled to no end!
