Tumors:

Hank, our first baby, was diagnosed with bone cancer June 15th 2010 at the age of six (he turns 7 July 31st, the day after my birthday). His normal weight was 105 lbs., he now sits at 85 lbs. They assume it's osteosarcoma, but because we've opted not to have extensive testing done, we do not have a definitive diagnosis. The tennis ball sized tumor on his right rear leg tells me that it's cancer that's killing him, and it doesn't make him better by knowing what kind of cancer it is.
We have the terrible "god" decision to make and I'm not comfortable with it, but I'm not comfortable watching a family member suffer every minute of every day. We currently have him on medication which is helping keep him comfortable...thank god. I think that Friday is the day we have to say goodbye to a dear friend and family member and it is killing me. Our home will not be the same without him.
Hank has always been loved by everyone who meets him. We have so much support from our family, friends, and of course the wonderful staff at Westside Animal Hospital in Casper, Wy. Dr. Justin Johnson and his staff have been so helpful, honest, and caring. There hasn't been a time that we've called for a re-wrap, or pain meds and been turned away or delayed.
There will always be a Hank sized hole in my heart...
