When I was 10 years old, I was begging my parents for a dog. I have always loved dogs, but we never had one in our family. After begging for months, my mom comes home with a golden retriever puppy. She was born on September 11th 2002. She was the best thing that happened to our family: she became our best friend; she protected us; and always played with us children. Everything was fine until about a year ago. One evening I noticed Libby wasn't acting the same, I also noticed she had a lump on her front right paw. We took her to the vet, and asked what it was, and the test results came back negative every time, but the vet had a good idea that it was bone cancer. Now I am sure that you can imagine what heart break that brought onto our family. We kept giving her medicine to help ease the pain, but the lump on her paw kept getting bigger. As of right now the lump is as big as a softball. We are tired of seeing her in pain. So we have decided to amputate her leg. She goes into surgery this week. It will be very hard on our family, but we have read other people's stories on here and we know she will make it through it. We are not ready to lose her, but we are hoping and praying that this will bring her back to herself.
