My husband Tony & I made the decision to get a dog together. So during the fall of 1999, we found a weimaraner breeder in North East Michigan. Mojo is our 9 year weimaraner. We've had him since he was 6 weeks old. Mojo is our pal, our cuddle bug & most of all, he's our first baby. I now have 2 daughters, 6 & 2 both whom love him very much but to me he is still my first. Early July of 2008, he started limping. He had been limping off & on for a couple of weeks before we brought him to the vet. At his appt, they xrayed him & saw nothing & basically gave us a potential diagnosis of arthritis. We left with some medication & had a follow-up appt scheduled 2 weeks later. I took Mojo & my girls up to my family's cottage in Sault, Ontario at the end of July for 11 days. By the 4th day there, he was no longer weight bearing on his left front limb. He was getting around ok on 3 limbs & still very much wanted to play & run & fetch but we kept him fairly tame for that time. On August 4th, Mojo had his follow-up. They xrayed his shoulder this time & the diagnosis was Osteosarcoma. We were completely devastated, confused & truly sad. I immediately started doing some research & talking to people familiar with this disease. Two days later the decision was made. We ultimately & very quickly decided to amputate. Mojo's limb was amputated on August 11th. This was the birthday of my 6 year old. He was home with us the very next day & happy to be home to say the least. He has done very well as a tripawd. Since, he's had 2 rounds of chemo (Sept 19th, 08). We just pray that all goes well throughout his chemo treatment. Looking forward to spending just one more christmas with my Mojo.
