Our story with Annie started almost 2 years ago when her and her sister were dumped in the desert when they were 8-10 weeks old. They were left for dead and only after watching them suffer for 2-3 weeks, Annie was attacked by a wild animal which left her neck torn open did a farmer finally realize that they had no home and picked them up and took them to the near by shelter. Starving and scared they stole my heart. Annie and Zoe came to live with us and none of us ever looked back. I daily thanked my heavenly father for bringing them into our lives and every day has been amazing since they came.
About 2 months ago Zoe started bitting her sisters leg, we scolded her but she continued to look at us with so much concern in her eyes. A few days later Annie started limping. we thought her sister had hurt her. After hoping it would get better and seeing no improvement I took her to our wonderful vet who unfortunately had to give me the bad news while looking at her X-rays. The tears rolled down my face. Life with out Annie just wasn't an option for me or her sister. I truely believe that Zoe Knew all along and was trying to tell me that Annie had Cancer.
Tomorrow, July 27, 2007 Annie will have her right rear leg removed in the hopes of saving her life.
I don't know where our story is going to go, I only know that my life has been so effected by these two orphaned new family members that i just can't imagine our lives without them. I have to think of the Garth Brooks song "The Dance", and I know that I am so grateful that i took a chance with to scared little puppies that melted in my arms, as we danced.

Update: Annie Bell now, 10 months after surgery, chemo, and she is currently cancer free, yeah! This is Annie's mountain in our front yard 2 months ago. She can't climb the big mountains anymore so we dubbed this one for her. The cancer is gone but the Hip Displatia limits her climbing the big hills.
