Adidas began limping on his front right leg in the late fall of 2006. The vet did a physical exam and felt no masses, so it was thought to be arthritic changes to the joint (Adidas was 10 years old). He was on different medications which would make him better, but eventually the symptoms would return. So days he would be completely fine and others he would be limping. In May 2007, a mass appeared around the shoulder area. On June 8th, Adidas was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. We decided with the age and stage of the cancer, we would take him home and keep him comfortable for the remainder of his days. Adidas did very well at first, there were no signs of advancement. On July 9, 2007, Adidas started to walk with a sway in his hind quarters. Within 3 days he was completely paralyzed in his hind end. Adidas crossed over the rainbow bridge on July 14, 2007. Although our time was very short from the time of diagnosis, I would not change a minute of my time with him. Adidas was a best friend and companion to me and my family. He will be missed greatly by everyone that knew him and our love for him will never end. Good luck to all of you who have to deal with this terrible disease. Cherish the time with your loved four legged friends and have comfort in knowing that there are many others that share in your pain and grief.
