where do i begin with my girl....this has been a hard and long journey for her. it all began around june 06, i noticed her acting a lil more quiet, i thought it was because she missed her brother who had passed away may 06. she had been acting a little more quiet and just wanted to be outside a lot more. soon she started sneezing, i didn't think much of it because she was always a digger so i thought she probably got some dirt in her nose. but soon the sneezing was accompanied by reverse sneezing, i took her to the vet and the vet said it was probably just a head cold so antibiotics were prescribed. those didn't help. weeks had passed and she started to have some clear discharge coming from her nose. i told the vet and she said we should bring her in, that friday evening pulguita started sneezing and she started to have a bloody nose, we took her to the vet and the vet was sure that it wasn't anything serious but we decided to scope her nose just to make sure. (this was on friday) that tuesday she went in to have a nasal scope, the doc said that as she was looking up her nose she took the scope out and blood just came pouring down (so they say) they sent some samples off to get reviewed for fungus. 2 days passed and the results came back and nothing was found due to the fact that they didn't send any tissue, what was sent was a blood clot. meanwhile her breathing was getting worse, she sounded so congested and was very uncomfortable when she slept. we scheduled an mri to be done that next week and that's when my heart just sank. there was a tumor that was covering her left nasal passage and went into her left sinus. i had lost my other dog not even a year, and we got this news on his birthday. that was the worst day of my life, i could not stop crying. to make a long story short. she's had a total of 3 biopsys and finally the 3rd biopsy revealed she had nasal osteosarcoma. she's done 19 treatments of radiation, and is currently going thru 3 cycles of chemo. right now her spirits are good, she's happy, spoiled rotten and just the best dog ever. i hope and pray she continues to improve. she recently had a ct scan due to drainage from her right side and there's a possibility that the tumor has spread to her right :( the other possibility is that it's inflammation. so to add to the chemo she is also getting piroxicam everyday.
