Every now and then a book comes along that delivers an unusually powerful message to people who have sick pets. This one, in particular, got our attention, partly because the author’s Labrador retriever, Boomer, was diagnosed with bone cancer and partly because the book was such a great read.
Doug Koktavy had two Labrador retrievers, both diagnosed with terminal diseases. He wrote the book to share his experience in dealing with the fear and guilt that crept into his life during the dogs’ illnesses. Crediting Beezer and Boomer for giving him the lessons he needed to cope, he is paying them back through a fundraiser for nonprofit animal organizations.
